Opponents: Milton Keynes
Date: Saturday 14th October
Result: 3-0 Win
Headline: Docklands Dwarfing Division

Newly
promoted Milton Keynes, confident after last week's
opening day win, came to Bacon's College, the home
of London Docklands Volleyball Club, buoyant and Out
to take a result from this match. They left thoroughly
deflated and Sunk by another unblemished display by
the home side.
Intense
in the pre-season, LDVC have stamped their intent
on this year's Men's National League Division 2 title
by not dropping a set in their opening two matches.
The Docklands side now look forward to an early season
"6-pointer" and a visit to 3rd placed Leeds on November
4th.
The
visitors began the first set nervously making three
consecutive service errors and Docklands leapt on
this gifting of the initiative to take the first set
25-20 while never really stepping out of second gear.
But Milton Keynes rallied in the second Set. Down
at the mid-way point, it took cool heads and consistent
play from Docklands to close out the second Set 25-21
.
The
best was still to come. While the home team again
lacked lustre early in the third, the touch paper
was soon lit for a glittering crescendo that saw them
take the set easily 25-16. Power hitter Blair, backed
up by Lams' faultless serving, was the catalyst to
this impressive third set display, the best the team
had played this term.
After
the game, coach Legrand Said, "I'd give us a C+. That
performance was about two levels below where I want
this team to be playing." Demanding and ambitious?
Possibly. A warning to the rest of Division 2? Certainly.
