Docklands are flying high at the top of the National
Volleyball League Division 2 and last Sunday they
visited the Harriers of the R.A.F in Lincolnshire.
But Docklands were to make sure that the Harriers
would not even take off, let alone fly.
Docklands took full advantage of Harriers' injury
and absenteeism from the first whistle, as they have
done in almost every game this season. Docklands'
superiority in the first sets of their matches this
season has been almost faultless but at 10-25, this
one was special.
The
story was virtually re-inacted for the third set too.
Harriers made far too many errors leaving Docklands
setter Andy Vincett only needing to dictate the play
in second gear consistency to see out the match 11-25.
It
was the second Set that posed the most problems for
the visitors to win when at 20-18 down things were
not going their way. But Docklands are proud to have
only lost 2 sets in their previous five matches and,
with Some timely winners from Alexis Blair, were able
to keep the Harriers rooted to terra firma by overhauling
them late on to take the set 23-25.
Quote of the day came from the Harriers coach when,
at 0-2 and 11-22 down he was heard to pronounce "It's
not all over yet." He was right of course; it took
another three points before they could go home well
beaten and Docklands could prepare for their biggest
matches of the season in a fortnight's time.
Next
Games: Away Vs Loughborough (2/12) & Sheffield (3/12).
